Term of Patent:      A patent based on a UK patent remains in force for so long as the UK patent remains in force.  The term of a convention or PCT patent is 14 years from the effective filing date, extendable for a further period of 7 years and in exceptional cases for up to 14 years

Renewals:     No renewal fees are payable for patents based on a granted UK patent.  For convention and PCT applications, renewal fees are payable 4 years from the effective filing date and annually thereafter
